AN ?8 MILLION plus investment in new plant equipment means that over 100 jobs will be created by the Hawk Group, which has sites at Prees and Wem.
The move will expand the group?s plant hire fleet and create jobs throughout the company, with the aim of winning more business from international companies.
Sixty new hydraulic excavators and 20 telehandlers have been purchased, increasing the fleet by ten per cent.
The Hawk Group, based in Wem, has placed the order for excavators with manufacturers Marubeni Komatsu.
The purchase is part of the renewal and expansion programme for the light plant division to meet customer?s demands for the latest equipment.
The excavators vary from three to 14 tonnes. The firm has also bought 20 new telehandlers from industry giants Caterpillar.
Mike Hawkins, chairman of The Hawk Group said: ?We are making a major investment in equipment to ensure our customers are getting the latest technology with the advantages of lower emissions, reduced fuel consumption and promoting greater efficiency.
