Frisco Crossfit will host a series of short articles exploring the relationship of eating the right types of foods to fuel success in training. We will dive into the what, how, and why of current trends such as Paleo diet, Zone diet, and a combination of the two.
What is the paleo diet and how can it be used effectively with crossfit training exercises to achieve maximum results? Paleo nutrition stems from the concept of returning to eating similar foods that our ancestors ate BEFORE the introduction of agriculture. In following the paleo diet we can achieve an amazing level of health and fitness currently unavailable to us.
Yet, in order to be fair, the reader should be aware that the paleo diet is a close approximation to what our ancestors were thought to consume, and not necessarily an exact replica of what their diet actually was composed of.
According to Robb Wolf ?the paleo diet is built from modern foods that (to the best of our ability) emulate the foods available to our pre-agriculture ancestors: Meat, fish, fowl, vegetables, fruits, roots, tubers and nuts. On the flip-side we see an omission of grains, legumes and dairy.?
To go deeper into the diet aspect of what foods should be consumed and which ones should be avoided please check out the FAQ on Robb?s website, which provides a quick outline of paleo nutrition.
