Hawkwood Energy debuts in Colorado, US

Hawkwood Energy, a new upstream oil and gas company, has been set up in Denver, Colorado to exlpore crude oil and natural gas opportunities in the region.

The newly formed firm, led by CEO Patrick Oenbring and COO Leonard Gurule, will seek to develop scalable oil and gas plays in Rockies and Midcontinent basins.

An affiliate of private equity firm Warburg Pincus and Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (OTPP), through its private equity division Teachers' Private Capital (TPC), has agreed to make an investment of up to $300m in Hawkwood Enegry.

Hawkwood Energy CEO Patrick Oenbring, commenting on the investment said, "With the financial backing and expertise of our investors, we are confident that our experienced team will be well positioned to create and realize value."

Warburg Pincus managing director Peter Kagan said the company is eager to work with Hawkwood Energy to achieve the goal of building a portfolio of exciting domestic onshore prospects.
